My December Service Learning trip to New Orleans

Hello,

I am traveling to New Orleans for a December Service Learning trip with the Western Michigan University. We are partnering with Green Light New Orleans, a local non-profit environmental organization, promoting individual and community engagement in reducing personal energy consumption and encouraging people to practice rain water management to help keep New Orleans from sinking.

It’s my goal that by gaining a degree in environmental studies I can help move us toward more sustainable practices. However, instead of waiting until I earn my degree years from now, I would like to volunteer in ways that help communities reach their sustainability goals now, and I can do that with Green Light New Orleans.

Green Light is very action oriented. Our group of 12 will provide the labor to implement rain barrels and backyard gardens, but we need your help providing funds for the materials for the projects lined up for us the week of December 16th - 20th. Each student in our group is seeking to raise funds. Our group total is $2,000.

Help us help New Orleans residents one person and one household at a time, with Green Light New Orleans.
